The Colosseum or Coliseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre is an amphitheatre of the Roman Empire, built in the first century and located in the city centre of Rome, Italy. Due to its conservation and history, the Coliseum is one of the most famous monuments of classical antiquity. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1980 by UNESCO and one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World on July 7, 2007.
