North America

Collage with some attractions in North America

At times referred to as the New World, North America is the third largest continent of the world. Along with South America, it is known as a subcontinent of the Americas; the name America deriving from the name of the Italian merchant and explorer, Amerigo Vespucci, one of its earliest visitors from Europe. Located between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean, North America is made up of Canada, the United States of America and Mexico in addition to Greenland (belonging to Denmark), Central America and numerous luscious islands of the Caribbean. It's hard to find a land as diverse in terms of landscape and culture as this notable continent of the Western Hemisphere.

North America stands as one of the most economically advanced regions in the world where the majority of its population have a good to high standard of living. North America is also racially diversified with three major languages spoken within its borders, those being English, French and Spanish. Many other languages are spoken however, among minority communities made up of immigrants from all across the globe.

Filled with amazing natural as well as manmade treasures in all directions, North America is a sensational landmass to explore. Its physical geography is unlike any other in the world adding even more to its appeal as a great travel destination. Fabulously long coastlines, thriving green forests, breathtaking canyons such as the striking Grand Canyon, natural parks and towering mountain peaks are just some of its most interesting features which help to create unique locations for adventure seekers or those in search of something new and exciting. North America is also known for possessing major cities like New York City, Chicago, Washington D.C., Toronto and Mexico City on top of boasting some of the world's most recognised constructions and insane skyscrapers that pierce through colourful skylines. Some of the most recognisable structures include the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, CN Tower and the White House in addition to skyscrapers like One World Trade Centre, the Empire State Building, Willis Tower, Trump Tower, First Canadian Tower and Torre Mayor which are some of the tallest buildings in the world.

To the north of the continent is Canada, the world's second largest country and home to the brilliant Niagara Falls and Rocky Mountains. This great nation is filled with unspoiled wilderness comprised of picturesque lakes, vast forestlands, breathtaking mountain ranges and extraordinary wildlife. Cosmopolitan cities make up the rest of the land for instance Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. South of Canada is the United States of America; one of the world's most powerful and extravagant countries. The USA is made up of 48 neighbouring states along with 2 separate states known as Alaska and Hawaii. The most popular and visited states in terms of tourism are New York, California, Florida, Texas, Nevada, Hawaii, Illinois and Massachusetts. Its most visited attraction is Walt Disney World which also happens to be the most largest and visited attraction on earth. With so many states in one country expect to find something of everything – diverse climates, sceneries, landscapes, wildlife, cities, architecture, different races, cultures and languages. Mexico lies between USA and Central America. This country, well-known for the mariachi as well as its UNESCO World Heritage Site and Wonder of the World, Chichén Itza, is part of Latin America and offers stress-free tropical coastlines, abundant natural lands and deserts, plus wonderful landmarks that tell the story of Mexico's ample history. Towards the southernmost region of North America is Central America which is comprised of seven countries – Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Belize. Hills, mountains, swamps, jungles, humidity and busy cities are what to expect in these very distinct areas. Located in the southeast of the continent are the Caribbean Islands. This popular destination, ideal for a relaxing or romantic getaway, is comprised of white sandy beaches, tropical palm trees and crystal-clear seas. The Caribbean is one of North America's top destinations to travel to.

Given North America's size, it's extremely difficult to describe the continent in a just a few short lines. But it's because of this fact that North America is such a brilliant place to travel to. A never-ending list of things to do and see, diverse countries, hundreds of popular cities, thousands of well-known avenues lined with top rated designer stores, exquisite hotels, and exclusive restaurants. Given its size, getting around from city to city or country to country can become costly and time consuming, however its developed transport systems make getting from A to B comfortable and convenient. North America is colourful, bold and said to be the land of dreams, so why not take the chance now and make some of your own dreams come true?
