Lake Bled (Slovene: Blejsko jezero) is a glacial lake in the Julian Alps, located northwest of Slovenia. It is located in the town of Bled. The lake is located in a picturesque setting, surrounded by mountains and forests. The medieval castle of Bled is located above the lake on the north shore. The lake surrounds Bled Island, the only natural island in Slovenia. The lake is a popular rowing place due to its good conditions to practice the sport, where the World Rowing Championships have been organized in 1966, 1979, 1989 and 2011.
