Democracy Monument

The Democracy Monument is a public monument located in the city centre of Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. It occupies a roundabout on the wide Ratchadamnoen Avenue. In the centre of the monument is a pedestal with a copy of the Thai constitution which is surrounded by four wing-shaped structures at 24 feet high. Each of these structures symbolizes a wing of the armed forces which should safeguard the constitution.
The monument was commissioned in 1939 to commemorate the Siamese Revolution of 1932 leading to the establishment of a constitutional monarchy.
