The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), colloquially described as The Giant Egg, is an opera house in Beijing, China. It opened in 2007, seats 5452 people and has about 12,000 square feet of area. It was designed by French architect Paul Andreu. The structure consists of a large titanium dome that appears to be cut in half and is surrounded by an artificial lake.
