Oeschinen Lake

The Oeschinen lake, located 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) east of Kandersteg in the Oeschinen valley, Switzerland, is an alpine lake fed by the glacier streams generated in a series of peaks over 3000 m high: Blüemlisalp, Oeschinenhorn, Fründenhorn and Doldenhorn. The place is a paradise for water, nature and hiking enthusiasts.

A cable car leads from Kandersteg to the lake's proximities, just a short half hour walk through meadows and pine forest to the lake, whose waters reach the temperature of 20 degrees in summer. Rowing or a trip on an alpine coaster are possible activities.

Since 2007 the lake is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn UNESCO World Heritage Site.
