Sigiriya Lion Gate

Sigiriya is an ancient palace and an UNESCO listed World Heritage Site located in the central Matale District in Sri Lanka. The Lion Staircase was built by King Kasyapa over 1600 years ago to guard the final entrance to his Sky Palace on top of Sigiriya Rock. The remnants of the giant paws with fingernails as tall as a man give us a clear indication of its original size.
