Intihuatana

Intihuatana is the name of a religious building of the Inca Empire. It is believed to have served as an astronomical calendar whereby, depending on the shade created by the sun on the bottom of the stone, seasons could be determined. This sculpture was designed by artist Fernando de Szyszlo Valdelomar and is located at the Parque Gran Mariscal Mariano Necochea in Lima, Peru.
