Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous region in Tanzania, East Africa. It comprises two large islands called Unguja (the main island, referred to informally as Zanzibar) and Pemba along with numerous small islands. The capital is Zanzibar City, located on the island of Unguja. Its historic centre is Stone Town which is a World Heritage Site. Zanzibar is also the birthplace of singer-songwriter Freddie Mercury.
