Istanbul from Minarets

Minaret is the tower of a mosque, location from which the muezzin announces the five daily calls to prayer. The minarets are usually quite high compared to the structures that surround it, providing a visual cue to a Muslim community. The aim of the minaret is to make the voice of the muezzin, the person making the call to prayer (adhan), heard over long distances.

This amazing time-lapse video of Istanbul was shot from 10 different minarets around the city.
