The Albert Badlands
The Alberta Badlands, as depicted in this spectacular video, is an impressive tourist destination which stretches along the Red Deer River Valley in Alberta, Canada, east-southwards from the city of Red Deer all the way through the small city of Drumheller to the Saskatchewan border. Its name derives from the French term "les mauvaises terres", literally meaning "bad lands" which was used by French Canadian explorers to describe the area's treacherous terrain which includes landscapes of mesas, buttes, coulees, gullies and canyons. Carved out by millions of years of mighty natural forces, the Alberta Badlands is a rainbow of earthly colours and shapes that will merely take your breath away. Famous not only for its stunning topography, the Badlands is a sought after hotspot for dinosaur fossils and has been one of the most important sites of fossil discoveries ever.
