Liberty Square

Liberty Square (also Freedom Square) is a public plaza covering over 240,000 square metres in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei, Taiwan. The largest square of the island was named after the democratic transition in the late 80's. The arched entrance, right in front of the National Library, gives way to a spacious square flanked by the National Theatre and National Palace of Music and, at its front, the blue dome of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. At the end of the stairs we found a huge seated statue of the former dictator as well as a small museum and various exhibitions halls.
