The Maqam Echahid (English: Martyrs' Memorial) is an iconic monument commemorating the Algerian war for independence from France, located in Algiers, Algeria. The monument was inaugurated in 1982 on the 20th anniversary of the independence of Algeria. It was built in the shape of three standing palm leaves that house the "eternal flame" below it.
