Angkor Wat Aerial View

Angkor Wat is located in Southeast Asia, more exactly in northwestern Cambodia. It is since 1992 a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This landmark, that was once one of the largest cities of its era, is currently uninhabited. To have an idea of the importance of Angkor Wat, it is vital to mention that it was the largest city in the world during the pre-industrial era with half a million inhabitants (some say it has reached one million inhabitants). Just the water reservoir to supply the city was eight kilometres long by two and a half kilometres wide.
