Freeport is a city, district and free trade zone in the Bahamas, located on the island of Grand Bahama. With a population of about 26,910 inhabitants (2000), it is the second most populous city of the archipelago after the capital, Nassau. Tourism is an important sector of activity for the city, since Freeport receives about a million visitors a year.
